Following the inaugural meeting of U21 Pharmacy members in Brisbane in 2004, a comprehensive data gathering exercise was conducted to ascertain the major features of individual programmes, and as a means of identifying opportunities for sharing and collaboration. Key areas for follow up included practice standards, scope of practice, accreditation standards, and regulatory/licensing environments. A range of quantitative information was sought as a preliminary step towards a major benchmarking exercise. At the 2007 meeting in Hong Kong, members' agreed that benchmarking would be an ongoing development.
